Chamarthy Phani Kumar Kashyap, currently serving as the Executive Director - Operations at Sanmar Shipping Limited, brings over four decades of experience in the maritime industry. A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Andhra University and an MBA from the University of Melbourne, he has held strategic roles in ship operations, overseeing technical, human resources, health, safety, and environmental (HSE), and compliance functions.

His earlier tenure as Resident Director at Bureau Veritas, Sri Lanka, involved managing Marine, Industrial Quality, Environmental Standards, Social Accountability, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) verification. His expertise encompasses the implementation, auditing, and verification of Quality, Environmental, Safety & Security, and Social Accountability Management Systems.

He is a seasoned participant in MEPC and IMO deliberations and an active member of technical committees of leading classification societies like INSA, IRS, Lloyd’s Register, and DNV, as well as the Institute of Marine Engineers India (IMEI).

His early career includes over 13 years of sailing experience, serving as Chief Engineer and Second Engineer on various vessels including cargo ships, bulk carriers, tankers, and offshore supply vessels, which has laid a strong foundation for his leadership in driving operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and sustainable maritime practices.

Indra Nath Bose is a distinguished marine professional with a career spanning over five decades. A graduate of the Directorate of Marine Engineering Training (1971), he sailed for 12½ years, including five years as Chief Engineer, and earned the prestigious Extra First Class Engineer Certificate of Competency from the UK Department of Trade in 1982.

He began his shore career in 1984 with the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS), rising to Vice President, and led key departments such as Machinery Plan Approval and Statutory Services. He also conducted training on the ISM Code, ISPS Code, and IMO Conventions in India and abroad. In 2007, he joined The Great Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd., overseeing quality, safety, security, occupational health, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance, later becoming Assistant Vice President and leading Fleet Performance Monitoring until 2021, after which he continues as an Advisor.

Since 1997, Mr. Bose has represented India at IMO’s MEPC meetings, playing a major role in shaping global maritime regulations, particularly on GHG emission reduction, including his work with the IMO Expert Group on Market-Based Measures. His technical submissions, such as India’s paper on 0.50% sulphur fuel, have been adopted as official IMO circulars.

Mr. Rajeev Nayyer is a seasoned Marine Engineer with over 36 years of experience in the shipping industry, having started his career in 1988 after graduating from DMET, Calcutta. He began sailing with the Great Eastern Shipping Co., Mumbai, where he rose to the rank of Chief Engineer, and in 1995, transitioned to shore operations as Technical Manager for Oil Tankers.

In 2000, he joined Essar Shipping, playing a key role in its LNG Project and later assuming leadership positions such as Head - Technical Tankers, Head S&P - New Buildings, and Head Q&S. In his S&P role, he oversaw asset acquisition and disposal across vessels, tugs, dredgers, offshore units, and an SBM (Single Buoy Mooring). Until the end of 2020, he served as CEO of OGD Services Ltd. (formerly Essar Oilfield Services), continuing his work on fleet S&P activities.

Since 2021, Mr. Nayyer has been an independent maritime consultant, advising on techno-commercial project evaluations. He currently serves as Advisor to the Swan Group, which is working on reviving the former Pipavav Shipyard.

He is also the President of the Institute of Marine Engineers (India), contributing actively to the growth and development of the Indian marine engineering community.

Mr. Kaushik Seal is currently the President of the Institute of Marine Engineers India. Prior to this, he was in Singapore as the Head of Sales at Njord, a Green Tech business under Maersk Tankers. He was previously looking after Sales in the SEAP region at StormGeo, which is a very similar earlier role in the Digital Solutions and Innovation ECO space at DNV. He has also served as Head of GL Systems Certification and Head of GL Academy in South Asia.

Before joining GL, he was the Vice President (Technical) with Aquarius Services, an associate of Anglo Eastern Ship Management. His past roles also include being a Ship Surveyor, Lead Auditor & Global Lead Tutor with Lloyd’s Register, Country Manager-India with ABS Quality Evaluations, Quality Manager with ARI-Simulations, and a sailing Chief Engineer with Great Eastern Shipping Company.

He is a Fellow of RINA, IMEI and a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Engineers. With over 40 years of Industry Experience, his daily dose of fresh ideas stems from the philosophy that ‘Enjoy What You Do and Do What You Enjoy’!

Mr. Sunayan Sanatani is a Graduate Marine Engineer and maritime professional with over 37 years of experience spanning shipboard operations, fleet technical management, classification, statutory compliance, auditing and maritime decarbonisation. He is currently serving as a Technical Domain Expert with the Institutional Support Unit (ISU), providing technical and analytical support for India's engagement at the International Maritime Organization (IMO). His work includes technical review of IMO proposals and emerging regulatory frameworks, preparation and review of submissions and briefing papers and assessment of regulatory implications for the Indian maritime sector.

Prior to his present role, he served as Deputy General Manager & Fleet Manager with The Great Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd., where he was responsible for the technical management of tanker and bulk carrier fleets, including major retrofit projects, budgets and decarbonisation initiatives. He has also worked as a Technical Consultant with Transworld Group and as a Senior Surveyor / Surveyor with the Indian Register of Shipping, undertaking classification and statutory surveys and serving as a Lead Auditor for the ISM and ISPS Codes.

Mr. Sanatani began his maritime career at sea and progressed to the rank of Chief Engineer, serving aboard oil tankers and bulk carriers. He holds a B.E. in Marine Engineering from DMET Kolkata, a Marine Engineer Class I qualification and is a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers (India). His areas of expertise include IMO and Flag State compliance, maritime decarbonisation, GHG regulations, alternative marine fuels, fleet technical management, classification and statutory compliance, dry-docking, retrofits and PSC/vetting.

Dr. Asit Kumar Pharikal is a seasoned maritime professional with over 35 years of experience across sea service, vessel management, fleet operations and senior technical leadership. His expertise spans maritime decarbonisation, fleet technical management, regulatory compliance, vessel performance optimisation, dry-docking, project management and environmental compliance. He has extensive experience with IMO Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) regulations and has led fleet-wide implementation of EEXI, CII, Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS), Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems and ship decarbonisation programmes.

Dr. Pharikal has held senior leadership positions across several prominent shipping organisations. He served as CTO with Marlow Navigation India, leading its Marketing & Technical Department and managing a diverse fleet of bulk carriers, crude oil and chemical tankers and container vessels. Prior to this, he served as CTO with Essar Shipping Ltd. and as Fleet Director and Executive Director on the Board of Apeejay Shipping Ltd. His earlier assignments include General Manager (Technical) with India Steamship, Fleet Manager with V.Ships–MSI Ship Management, Singapore, and Superintendent positions with Wallem Ship Management and Univan Ship Management. He has also worked as a Business Consultant with Dockendale Shipmanagement, focusing on vessel performance analysis and decarbonisation.

He holds a B.E. in Marine Engineering from DMET, an MBA from SP Jain Management Centre, Singapore, a Marine Engineer Officer Class I Certificate of Competency and a Post Graduate Diploma in Python Coding and Data Analytics. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers (India) and has served on technical committees associated with Lloyd's Register, DNV and the Indian National Shipowners' Association. His areas of expertise include IMO GHG regulations, MARPOL Annex VI, alternative marine fuels, EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, SEEMP Part III, vessel performance optimisation and emerging maritime decarbonisation technologies.
