Goa Workshop

The Goa Coastal State Workshop, held on 2nd March 2026 in Panjim, Goa, was successfully convened by the Directorate General of Shipping in collaboration with the Captain of Ports Department and Government of Goa. The fullday event brought together senior policymakers, maritime administrators, shipyard leaders, training institutions and seafaring professionals for structured deliberations aligned with Maritime India Vision 2030, Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, and the newly enacted Merchant Shipping Act, 2025 and Coastal Shipping Act, 2025. Distinguished dignitaries, including the Hon’ble Ministers and senior officials from the Directorate General of Shipping and Government of Goa, graced the workshop. Discussions spanned maritime safety and emergency response, shipbuilding and recycling opportunities, seafarer training and welfare, environmental sustainability and decarbonisation, as well as coastal shipping, inland navigation and multimodal integration. The workshop underscored the importance of Centre–State cooperation, highlighted Goa’s growing maritime capabilities, and set the direction for strengthened institutional coordination, greener shipping, enhanced skilling pathways and improved coastal connectivity. As the first coastal state to host this initiative, Goa has set a strong precedent for collaborative and futureready maritime governance.
