The Horizons Clean Energy Expansion (HCEE) India 2026, organised by S&P Global Energy

The Directorate General of Maritime Administration (DGMA) participated in the Horizons Clean Energy Expansion (HCEE) India 2026, organised by S&P Global Energy, on 24 September 2026 at Andaz, Aerocity, New Delhi.

During the session on Ports, Shipping and Maritime Infrastructure, Shri K M Rao, Chief Surveyor-cum-Additional Director General, DGMA, delivered an address on “Charting India’s Green Maritime Transition: Clean Fuels, Green Ports and Global Decarbonisation Pathways.”

The address highlighted India’s evolving maritime decarbonisation landscape, including the National Maritime Decarbonisation Policy Framework (NMDP) and initiatives across green shipping, alternative and clean marine fuels, green ports, shore power and port electrification. It also covered readiness for emerging fuels such as green hydrogen, ammonia and methanol, alongside the need to align India’s maritime sector with evolving global decarbonisation requirements.

Emphasis was placed on strengthening the enabling ecosystem through technology, infrastructure, investment, industry partnerships and capacity building, supporting the transition towards low- and zero-carbon shipping and advancing India’s broader clean-energy and maritime decarbonisation ambitions.

The event brought together policymakers, energy and maritime-sector stakeholders, technology providers and industry leaders to deliberate on pathways for scaling green hydrogen and clean-energy solutions, including their growing role in ports, shipping and maritime infrastructure.
