Annual Technical Seminar on Offshore Energy Logistics: Terminals, Transfers & Beyond

Directorate General of Shipping at the 7th Annual Technical Seminar on Offshore Energy Logistics: Terminals, Transfers & Beyond
Capt. Anish Joseph, Deputy Nautical Adviser & Senior Deputy Director General (Technical & Maritime Security), delivered a keynote address at the 7th Annual Technical Seminar on Offshore Energy Logistics: Terminals, Transfers & Beyond, held on 8–9 October 2025 at Radisson Blu Hotel, Aerocity, New Delhi.
In his address on 8th October, he spoke about the evolving nature of offshore operations and the shared responsibility of industry and regulators in ensuring safety, competence, and preparedness.
He also shared an anecdote from the Tauktae Cyclone (2022)- a moment that reminded everyone how resilience, decision-making, and teamwork define true seamanship in times of crisis. His reflections set the tone for a deeper conversation on current challenges in offshore logistics, from complex operations to the urgent need for uniform training and certification frameworks.
Highlighting DGS’s forward-looking vision, he shared the intent for developing policy initiatives focused on developing Safety Training and Competency Standards tailored for the offshore industry - ensuring India’s workforce remains globally competitive, skilled, and safety-driven.
The Directorate appreciates the organisers for creating a platform that brings together regulators, experts, and seafarers to exchange ideas and strengthen the future of India’s offshore energy ecosystem.
