AZIMUTH 2026, the International Conference hosted at the Indian Maritime University (IMU), Chennai Campus

The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) participated in AZIMUTH 2026, the International Conference hosted at the Indian Maritime University (IMU), Chennai Campus, bringing together maritime leaders, policymakers, academia, and industry to deliberate on innovation, digital transformation, and the future of global shipping.

During the conference, Capt. Harinder Singh, Deputy Director General (DDG), DGS, presented the Directorate’s strategic initiative on the Maritime Knowledge Cluster under the visionary MAKV 2047 framework. The presentation highlighted DGS’s roadmap for strengthening maritime research ecosystems, institutional collaboration, digital integration, and capacity building to position India as a global maritime knowledge and innovation hub.

The conference served as a platform for constructive dialogue on emerging technologies, maritime governance, sustainability, and industry-academia partnerships. DGS’s participation reaffirmed its commitment to advancing knowledge-driven growth, regulatory excellence, and strategic sectoral transformation in alignment with India’s long-term maritime vision.
