Participation in the Inception-cum-Consultation Meeting convened by the National Institute of Disaster Management on 28 January 2026

The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) participated in the Inception-cum-Consultation Meeting convened by the National Institute of Disaster Management on 28 January 2026 at the Delhi Campus, focused on facilitation for formulation of the Disaster Management Plan (DMP) for the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (India) (hashtag#MoPSW).

Capt. Harinder Singh, DDG, DGS attended the inaugural session alongside Shri Madhup Vyas, IAS (Executive Director, NIDM), Capt. R. Poswal (MMD, Noida), and other senior stakeholders from ministries, maritime agencies, ports, academia and industry. Capt. Harinder Singh also delivered the Special Address, highlighting the importance of disaster preparedness, coordinated response, and resilience across the maritime and port ecosystem.

The consultation featured the draft DMP framework presentation and an open-house discussion that generated valuable, actionable inputs- reinforcing the shared commitment to risk-informed planning, coordinated response mechanisms, and enhanced preparedness across ports and the wider maritime ecosystem.
